The White House with a blue sky and red flowers.

The Presidental tour

Washington, D.C.

Founded in 1790, Washington D.C. is the capital of the United States and the place where big decisions for the whole country are made.

It’s not a state—it’s a special district created just to be the nation’s capital. Here you’ll find the White House (where the president lives), the U.S. Capitol (where laws are made), and the Supreme Court (where important court cases are decided).

D.C. is also packed with amazing museums—many of them free!—like the Air and Space Museum and the National Museum of American History. You’ll see famous landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. It’s a city full of history, cool sights, and stories that shaped America.
